(Oct. 13, 2009 - Columbus, MS)... The members of the Mississippi BASS Federation Nation launched in to the Tennessee -Tombigbee Waterway in Columbus October 9th. Most of the anglers 8 hours later were weighing fish but the trend of the day was the fish size was just average with David Staples weighing in the "Big Fish" of the day a 3.9lbs. largemouth bass. Hoot Gibson stepped up to weigh his limit (5) of bass and walked away from the scales with the day one lead and 2.8lbs. over Blaine Davis. The day two launch saw 53 anglers take off to see if they could overtake Gibson’s day one lead. Eight hours later it seemed little had changed, there were a few more limits coming to the scales but the bass seemed about the same size. Day one runner up Blaine Davis stepped to the scales and offered a fish to be weighed for big fish, the gathering of other anglers and spectators were impressed by the nice 4.12lbs. Largemouth and it became the big fish to beat at that point in the weigh in. Jeremy Barbour was at the scales a few minutes later and put his stamp on the "Big Fish" competition with the "Big Fish" of the day and tournament, 5.97lbs. Big Bass!
Teb Jones who was in 5th after day one came up to the scales and it was clear he had a nice limit of bass and as it turned out he also had the big bag of the tournament. 13.96lbs. of largemouth bass gave him a two day total of 21.79lbs. That limit move Jones from Fifth to First Place and the Mississippi BASS Federation Nation 2009 Champion!
