When I’m deep water cranking I’ll tie on the same lure, on the same type of rod, but I’ll vary the pound test line that I’m using. I love super Silver Thread; it has a thinner diameter than most lines, so I can get my crank baits down a little bit deeper. And by changing the pound test line. I can get the same crank bait down an extra foot/foot and a half if need be. I like to throw my crank baits on a seven foot medium to medium light action rod. It gives me a soft tip so when I play the fish out and the fish jumps, the tip gives a bit and he’s less likely to throw a bait. |
