(May. 18, 2006)... Five years ago the concept of securing boat propellers was born due to a propeller theft. The solution is called the Secureprop. Secureprop is a boat propeller lock, lower unit theft deterant and it provides a reflector for the trailered boat. Secureprop encapsulates the propeller hub which prevents access to the nut thus preventing removal of the propeller. The Secureprop is cast of stainless steel and weighs 4 1/2 lbs. A propeller can be stolen in less than 45 seconds, an action that will cost the boat owner valuable time and will be very expensive for replacement.

Insurance companies are generally not notified for propeller theft since the replacement cost of the propeller will fall at or beneath the deductibles allowed for the coverage. Therefore, the true brunt of the stolen propeller will cost dearly to replace. Boat propeller theft has become a global issue, an issue that has to be addressed.

Secureprop has been termed by users as "sweet", "clean", "easy to use", "highly effective" and we have received many customers expressing "thank you" for providing the level of security that we offer.

Secureprop can lock the Bravo III and the Volvo Penta, however the Volvo production model has not been released. When using the Secureprop to secure the Bravo III, the zinc on the propeller does not have to be removed. This allows quick installation and removal of the Secureprop.Sweet!

Cabela’s has Secureprop available through the catalog, internet and in stores.
The German made ABUS Diskus lock compliments the security afforded by using the Secureprop. These locks are stainless and typically have been used in an environment of high security which requires the best protection.

A very strong safety attribute about the Secureprop is the reflector which allows your motor to be seen by other motorist at night. Without the Secureprop the normal following distance from cars behind the trailer is an average 1-2 car lengths. When the Secureprop is installed the following distance improves to 4-6 car lengths. The extra distance of 4-6 car lengths allows for safer operations.
