(Apr. 15, 2003 - Richland Chambers Reservoir, TX)... Great weather, but generally tough fishing greeted anglers at the 48th Annual Texas State Bass Tournament held on April 12-13 at Richland Chambers Reservoir. Nevertheless, Billy Keener of Winnsboro, Texas and Darren Keener of Bigelow, Arkansas managed to set a new State Tournament record with a 5-fish stringer of 34.47 pounds en route to becoming the 2003 Team Division State Champions. Their total weight for the two-day event was 45.20 pounds. The defending 2002 Team Division Champions, Leonard Watson of Ft. Worth and Wendell Bond of Burleson, claimed 2nd place with 19.99 pounds. The Couples Division was won by Ronnie and Donna Poe of Ft. Worth with 17.87 pounds. They narrowly edged William and Anna Polster of Riesel who brought 15.63 pounds to the scales. Dan Wilson of Pilot Point won the Individual Division with a whopping 30.17 pounds. Dick Murray of Aledo was a distant 2nd with 11.79 pounds. Other 2003 Division Champions are Bob Hubbard and Ed Robertson of Arlington who took the Senior Team Division, Greg and Ryan Malone of Jasper who captured the Adult/Boy Division, and Sheldon and Chelsea Reynolds of Lewisville who won the Adult/Girl Division. Big Bass honors belonged to Dan Wilson of Pilot Point with a solid 9.02 pounder. The largest bass caught by a youth was a plump 4.45 pounder landed by Cory Allen of Arp. In other activities, Lonnie Fuller of Hemphill, Donna Poe of Ft. Worth, and Leonard Watson of Burleson were inducted into the Texas State Bass Tournament Hall-of-Fame, bringing the total number of inductees to 38. The event was headquartered at Oak Cove Marina. Sponsors were Strike King, Stren, Nitro Boats, Waypoint Marine of San Marcos & Austin, Fin & Feather of Ft.
