(Jul. 29, 2009 - Lake Cypress Springs, TX)... Our first night tournament of the year was held Saturday, July 18 on Lake Cypress Springs. The weather couldn’t have been better as a "cool" front came through a couple of days before lowering the temperatures down from the sweltering 100’s we had been experiencing for the past couple of weeks.Traci Smith had an outstanding night, coming in with a limit of 5 fish for a total weight of 11.94 lbs. Traci is in her second year with the club and this was the first time she had caught a limit (actually had to cull one little one) so she was very excited! Jan Bruner came in Second with 5 fish for a total of 8.59 lbs., and Pam Rodden finished Third with 5 fish for a total of 8.27 lbs. Inge Kirby got Big Bass landing a nice 4.46 lb. fish. Special mention goes to our newest member, Uli Mueller who caught her first two fish this tournament!
We usually pretty much have the lake to ourselves when we fish Cypress at night but this time we had to share with two other tournaments. There were probably at least 40 or so boats on the lake all night. This kept the lake pretty churned up and we often had to fight for our favorite spots. It made the bite tough but almost everyone managed to get some fish in the boat.
