Dallas Bass n Gals | |

(Mar. 18, 2009 - Lake Monticello, TX)... What started out as a cold foggy morning turned out to be a pretty good day. When the forecast called for cold and cloudy on Saturday, the club decided to wait and hold our tournament on Sunday. They were forecasting highs in the mid-60’s and partly cloudy. Unfortunately, the high never reached 60 and the sun never showed up either. But, the winds were mild and the cold wasn’t really all that bad.
The day started pretty slow, but around noon things started picking up. Judy Muse came in First Place with a total weight of 10.34 lbs., and got Big Bass with a 21+" fish. On paper it weighed 6.21 lbs but it was shaped like a football and would probably have been 7 lbs. if it had been weighed.
Jennifer Horn got Second Place with a total weight of 7.99 lbs. Barbara Arrington came in Third with a total of 3.53 lbs. Others fishing were: Norma Ussery with 3.35 lbs., Traci Smith with 1.72 lbs., and our new member Dawn March had her first tournament fish for 1.30 lbs. Jan Bruner and Patty Verver hooked some good fish but unfortunately, were unable to land them.
Green Pumpkin seemed to be the color of the day with most of the fish caught on either baby brush hogs or small lizards. There were still some bedding fish even though the spawn usually starts in December on Monticello. Other fish were caught around the bridge and some in lily pads. |
