(Aug. 25, 2008 - Cedar Creek Lake, TX)... What a great day for fishing on Saturday. Our regular night tournament for August was changed to a day tournament due to the much cooler temperatures. And what a great day it was! It was more like Fall than the 100 plus temperatures we have been experiencing. It turned out to be a great day for Patti Verver as well. After working so hard to catch her first tournament fish since joining the club, she made up for it all by catching three fish weighing in at a total of 8 lbs. 24 ozs. She also won Big Bass with 3.35 lbs. Patti caught her fish drop shotting in water less than two feet deep. She used a pumpkin lizard with chartreuse tail.
Second place was won by Norma Ussery with four fish. Total weight was 6.92 lbs. Her fish were caught off the rip rap along the bridge. They were caught on watermelon shaky head jigs and Texas rigged baby brush hogs in pumpkin with chartreuse tails.
Traci Smith caught the largest fish weighing in at 5.09 but unfortunately she did not enter the Big Bass Pot prior to the tournament. She came in third with 2 fish weighing in at 5.81 lbs. Her fish were also caught with a baby brush hog, pumpkin with chartreuse tail. She also fished the rip rap.
Final scores were:
| Patti Verver | 3 fish | 8.24 lbs. |
