Dean Perkins fished solo and took first place with a impressive sack that weighed 17.94, anchored by big fish of the tournament and it went 6.71. Dean said Debbie was really missed, and her absence probably cost him a three pounder. Who said you can’t catch big fish from hot water. Joe and Pam Pope have been hot all year, and this month was no different. Their second place catch weighed 17.32 and there was talk of a large missed fish. Rounding out the top three was another hot team, Cliff and Brenda Davis have been on a role and the train wasn’t going to stop at Buchanan. It rolled right in to third with a sack that weighed 10.63. These teams and all of our Capitol Region couples had great seasons and should be applauded for their efforts as all have qualified for the Classic, and six will attend the coveted Top Six tournament in September. Our sponsors have been remarkable this year, and deserve our thanks. Johnny Walker at Emporium Spice provided funding for meals after our tournaments and was responsible for the fajita dinner after Buchanan. Chuck Guthrie supplied enough plastics for us to have three bags for every team at every event, plus twenty-four Pulsator Spinnerbaits over four events. Gina at Brickwood of Texas made a lucky Lady very happy at each tournament with a Lady’s gift. Terri at Chili’s of Temple had $25 gift certificates for each event. We are all grateful for gift cards at all of our events courtesy of Academy Sports + Outdoors. Our thanks to Skeeter, Yamaha, Save Phace, Castaway Rods, Wave Spin, and Strike King for their continued support. A special thanks to Marine Outlet who sponsored our plaques from Monarch Trophy in Houston. Vickie and I are blessed to have Rick and his entire staff’s support, many of the opportunities we enjoyed were because of their efforts, and without it we could not do what we do. Last but not least we thank Keith Kincannon, Doyle Gatliff, and everyone at The Parts Depot of Temple. These guys not only supplied a pair of Delco Voyager Trolling batteries for each event, but furnished a Cranking battery for the Stillhouse tournament and furnished bottled water for our couples for the last two events.
