(May. 05, 2008 - Lake Whitney, TX)... While the majority of the field decided to trailer their boats to calmer waters on an extremely windy Saturday at Lake Whitney. John Staley & Page Cundiff decided to launch at the tournament site and for good reason. John & Page knew where the fish were going to be for CAST Metroplex’s fourth tournament of the 2008 season. Challenging the north wind blowing into Lakeside Village Marina, John & Page turned their Skeeter 202C and Yamaha 150 four-stroke directly into the wind and headed up the Brazos River. They fished in the many backwater pockets and bays off the main river to catch a very impressive five fish limit weighing 20.51 pounds! This big bag of bass firmly placed them in first place for the tournament and in the point standings for the CAST Metroplex Region. Their bag also included the big fish for the tournament, a healthy lunker, weighing 7.84 pounds. No small feat on a tough day!

Finishing in second place were the veteran couple of Jimmy & Karen Williams. Jimmy & Karen also put together a nice five fish limit of Whitney bass weighing 16.28 pounds. Jimmy & Karen missed one tournament earlier in the season but have managed to climb to number seven in the point standings just 26 points out of the Top Six. The couples in front of them better fish hard or one of you is going to be on the wrong side of the point ladder!

Finishing in third place with their best finish so far in 2008 where the dynamic couple of Danny & Ginger Moore. Just missing that last fish to complete a limit, Danny & Ginger brought four fish to the scales weighing 13.87 pounds. Ladies and Gentlemen, that is better then a three and a half pound average; one fish could have changed everything! Danny & Ginger are also making a season ending push toward the top of the standings, looking to bump someone else from this year’s TOP SIX Invitational Tournament!

Grace and I want to thank Ben E. Keith as well as Steve & Debbie Amburn for their support of the CAST Metroplex Region in 2008. Ben E. Keith is in their second year as sponsors of CAST Metroplex and they deserve your appreciation. Please support Ben E. Keith’s many fine retailers!

With four tournaments in the books and only two more to go, everyone can still make it on the roster for the CAST Metroplex Region’s team at the 2008 TOP SIX Invitational Tournament on September 19th & 20th. All the couples in the Metroplex Region will be fishing hard to try and take a position or just keep their positions in the standings. Currently sitting in the Top Six positions for CAST Metroplex Region in order are: John Staley & Page Cundiff, David & Charlotte Harris, Shane & Rebecca Timm, Jeff & Susan Brandon, Quincy & Carolyn Brown, and Steve & Debbie Amburn. Alternates currently eligible for the TOP SIX Invitational Tournament are: Jimmy & Karen Williams, Danny & Ginger Moore, Kevin & Julie Seibold, and Cary & Carrie Adams.

Our next tournament will be at Lake Bridgeport on Saturday, May 31, 2008. We will have registration at Wise County Park starting at 5: 00 am. I expect us to call boat numbers by 6:00 am that morning. We will also be conducting weigh-in at the boat ramp area.

Please remember to e-mail our sponsors and let them know how much you appreciate their support of CAST and CAST Metroplex.

Until later... God Bless and Good Fishin’!
John & Grace Watts,
CAST Metroplex
