(Mar. 07, 2004 - CRYSTAL SPRINGS, LAKE OUACHITA)... The first tournament for Arkansas’s Couples opened with temperatures of 40 at take off and a high of 60 and winds gusting to 20 mph. 47 couples caught 75 fish weighing 174.401 lbs with 6/5 fish limit.

Adam and Phyllis Wright from Benton used crankbaits and jigs to weigh 5 fish weighing 15.91 lbs to win $970 for first.

Second place was Steve Powell and Malinda Lay of Cabot who used spinner baits on the outside edge of the moss on the main lake points and flats. The 15.62 got them a $570 payday.

Third were Aubrey Johnson and Joan Craig who weighed 12.40 to earn them $460.
Sam and Nancy Finney caught a 4.55 lbs lunker on a crankbait to earn big bass money of $220.

The next Arkansas Couples tournament will be April 10 on Greer’s Ferry Lake out of the Narrows.
