(Aug. 02, 2009 - Onalaska, TX)... Anglers Quest 2009 Livingston Saturday Series #9 out of Kickapoo Bait & Tackle in Onalaska, TX began this final event with 72 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $4855.00 purse.
The event began at safe light, which was 6:05 am. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm. This Livingston Saturday Series after all 9 events has provided the team "Anglers of the Year" Morgan Burton & Randy McAdams with paid entries to all 2010 Livingston Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams in pounds have qualified for the 2-day Championship on September 26-27 on Lake Livingston.
Anglers Quest will take the Top 5 group of teams from the Livingston Saturday series to the "Tournament of Champions" to be held on November 14-15 on Lake Bob Sandlin and will pay a minimum of $10,000.00 to the winning team. Lake Livingston water was a bit off color in most areas due to the 8" of rain received on Friday. The lake is at approximately normal pool level with water temps ranning 88-90 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 80 degrees with a warm up to 92 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was very good on Livingston today as there were 21 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 119 bass at 300.56 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.52 lb.
"Finally" -- After a complete year of tournament fishing, Jeff Rood from Livingston, Tx & Ben Pope from Splendora, Tx landed their 1st team tournament event win. They ran Jeff’s Skeeter/Yamaha to Kickapoo creek & mid main lake areas to catch their 5 bass flipping tx rigged critter craws in 1-3 ft water around any visible cover. Their 5 bass produced a giant 8.11 lber for Big Bass of the event and a whopping 24.04 lb total sack for their 1st ever win. Jeff & Ben collected $1800.00 for their great day on the water ... Congratulations to you guys!
Johnny Clausen Jr fished this event alone and ran his Astro/Mercury bass rig to Kickapoo & Brushy creek areas to catch his 5 bass on small cranks using his sponsors Airrus rods. Johnny reported catching over 3 limits of bass in an all day bite. Johnny finished in 2nd with 19.02 lbs and collected $915.00 for his day on the water.
The team of Chris Wallace & Eddie Ellisor from Coldspring, Tx ran Chris’s Triton/Mercury to south lake areas to gather their limit of bass. They ended the day with 18.09 lbs and collected $720.00 for their day on the water.
Wade Ellis & Toby Hartsell from Livingston, Tx ran Toby’s Ranger/Yamaha to Kickapoo creek areas to catch their 5 bass totaling 17.70 lbs on tx rigged soft plastics to finish in 4th and take home $450.00.
Morgan Burton & Randy McAdams from Livingston, Tx ran their Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to mid lake creek areas to finish in 5th with their best 5 bass that tipped the scales at 16.66 lbs. With Morgan & Randy’s catch today using tx rigs & small cranks they sealed the deal for 2009 Anglers of the Year. Morgan & Randy’s day on the water paid back $285.00 for their efforts. Very noteworthy for their AOY performance is that they received a check in every Livingston Saturday series event this year for a whopping winnings total of $6215.00.
The team of Russell Cecil from Willis, Tx & Kyle Nitschke from Conroe, Tx ran Kyle’s Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to various creek areas to finish in 6th with their best 5 bass that tipped the scales at 13.97 lbs. Russell & Kyle’s day on the water payed back $200.00 for their efforts.
The team of Scott David from Goodrich, Tx & Harold Moore from College Station, Tx ran Scott’s Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to the south end of the lake to throw spinner baits & flip tx rigs around visible cover in 1-4 ft water to bring in 5 bass at 13.38 lbs to garner 7th place and collect $155.00 for their day on the lake.
There were 7 checks today and we had some ZZ Lures sponsor product to give to 1st place out of the money today. The team of Charles Bebber & Keith Caka finished in the 1st place out of the money today with 13.36 lbs BUT, were not at the awards ceremony to collect their 2 bags of ZZ Lures. On August 15th Anglers Quest will be at Sam Rayburn at Mill Creek Park for the 8th of 9 Rayburn Saturday Series events. On August 22nd A/Q will be on Lake Conroe at El Dorado Jack’s for the 8th of 9 Conroe Saturday Series events.
