(Jul. 12, 2009 - Lake Livingston Onalaska, TX)... Anglers Quest 2009 Livingston Saturday Series #8 out of Kickapoo Bait & Tackle in Onalaska, TX began this event with 76 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $5125.00 purse.
The event began at safe light, which was 6:00 am. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm. This Livingston Saturday Series after all 9 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2010 Livingston Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams in pounds will qualify for the 2-day Championship on September 26-27 on Lake Livingston.
Anglers Quest will take a special Top 5 group of teams from each A/Q series to the "Tournament of Champions" to be held on November 14-15 on Lake Bob Sandlin and will pay a minimum of $10,000.00 to the winning team. All Anglers Quest Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $155.00 per team.
Lake Livingston water was in good shape and at normal pool level with water temps running 85-90 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 79 degrees with a warm up to 100 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was very good on Livingston today as there were 23 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 133 bass at 340.69 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.56 lb.
Jimmy Emmons, Jr from Humble, Tx and Jeff Stanley from Houston, Tx are trying to run down the current leaders of the Anglers of the Year team of Morgan Burton & Randy McAdams from Livingston, Tx who ran their Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to mid lake creek areas to finish in 3rd with their best 5 bass that tipped the scales at 16.50 lbs. Jimmy & Jeff finished their day in 1st with 5 bass that tipped the scales at 19.07 lbs and collected $1725.00. With Jimmy & Jeff’s catch today using wacky worms & small cranks in 12-15 ft water around south lake piers they closed the AOY lead down to 8.48 lbs with one event left to decide the winner.
Morgan & Randy’s day on the water paid back $760.00 for their efforts. Good Luck To both teams at the final event on August 1st.
The team of Wade Ellis & Toby Hartsell from Livingston, Tx ran their Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to Kickapoo creek areas to finish in 2nd with their best 5 bass that tipped the scales at 17.31 lbs. Wade & Toby’s day on the water payed back $950.00 for their efforts.
The team of Curtis Jordan from Baytown, Tx & Larry Kitchens from New Caney, Tx ran Curtis’s VIP/Mercury bass rig to the south end of the lake to throw spinner baits around visible cover in 1-10 ft water to bring in 5 bass at 19.37 lbs to garner 3rd place and collect $795.00 for their day on the lake. Curtis & Larry reported a great day on the lake catching at least 20-25 keepers. Curtis & Larry also wanted to give some Thanks to their new sponsor "Jordans Bait & Tackle".
The team of Randy Valderez from Livingston, Tx & Joey Rowe from Trinity, Tx ran their BassCat/Mercury bass rig to undisclosed creeks. They brought in 5 bass at 15.97 lbs to garner 4th place and collect $500.00 for their day on the lake.
The team of Chris Wallace & Eddie Ellisor from Coldspring, Tx ran Chris’s Triton/Mercury bass rig to south lake creek areas to catch their bass using Tx rigged worms & jigs/craw worms. They finished in 5th place with a limit of bass that tipped the scales at 15.44 lbs to collect $300.00 for their efforts. They also had the Big Bass of the event at a fine 5.85 lber to collect another $150 to give them a total payday of $450.00.
There were 7 checks today and we had some ZZ Lures sponsor product to give to 1st place out of the money today. The teams of Jerrid Theisen & Dave Roberts & Russell Cecil & Kyle Nitschke finished in the 1st place out of the money today with 14.58 lbs BUT, were not at the awards ceremony to collect their 2 bags of ZZ Lures. On July 18th Anglers Quest will be at Sam Rayburn at Mill Creek Park for the 7th of 9 Rayburn Saturday Series events. On July 25th A/Q will be on Lake Conroe at El Dorado Jack’s for the 7th of 9 Conroe Saturday Series events. The next day, Sunday July 26th A/Q will be on Sam Rayburn at Mill Creek Park for the 7th and final Super Team Series event for 2009.
