(May. 27, 2009 - Onalaska, TX)... Anglers Quest 2009 Livingston Saturday Series #6 out of Kickapoo Bait & Tackle in Onalaska, TX began this event with 84 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $5665.00 purse. The event began at safe light, which was 5:55 am. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm. This Livingston Saturday Series after all 9 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2010 Livingston Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams in pounds will qualify for the 2-day Championship in September on Lake Livingston.
Anglers Quest will take a special Top 5 group of teams from each A/Q series to the "Tournament of Champions" to be held on November 14-15 on Lake Bob Sandlin and will have a great payout as normal. All Anglers Quest Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $155.00 per team.
Lake Livingston water was in good shape and a 1/4 foot above normal pool level with water temps ranning 72-75 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 66 degrees with a warm up to 85 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was very good on Livingston today as there were 30 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 164 bass at 463.06 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.82 lb.
The team of Larry Cotten & Chris DiBerardino from Huffman, Tx ran Larry’s Skeeter/Evinrude bass rig to areas north of the 190 bridge to catch their keeper bass flipping jigs/craw worms in 2-6 ft water around any sort of visible cover. Larry & Chris culled down to 5 bass at 22.11 lbs to finish in 1st place and collect $1800.00 for their day on the water.
The team of Morgan Burton & Randy McAdams from Livingston, Tx ran their Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to undisclosed creek areas to finish in 2nd with their best 5 bass that tipped the scales at 20.57 lbs. With this great catch today they took over the Angler of the Year lead in this Livingston Saturday Series. Morgan & Randy’s day on the water payed back $975.00 for their efforts.
The team of Jimmy Emmons Jr from Humble, Tx & Jeff Stanley from Houston, Tx ran Jimmy’s Champion/Yamaha bass rig to the south end of the lake to throw spinner baits & small cranks around visible cover in 2-12 ft water to bring in 5 bass at 19.26 lbs to garner 3rd place and collect $800.00 for their day on the lake.
The brothers team of Charlie Cooper from Onalaska, Tx & Mark Cooper from Galveston, Tx ran Charlie’s Skeeter/Yamaha bass rig north to Bethy Creek to flip tx rigged double wide sweet beavers into visible cover in 2-10 ft water to bring in 5 bass at 19.09 lbs to garner 4th place and collect $500.00 for their day on the lake.
The father & son team of Frank & Jody Rhoden from Groveton, Tx ran Jody’s Triton/Evinrude bass rig to various creek areas north of the 190 bridge to catch their bass using Tx rigged worms & craw worms. They finished in 5th place with a limit of bass that tipped the scales at 17.99 lbs to collect $370.00 for their efforts.
There were 8 checks today and we had some sponsor product to give to 1st place out of the money today. The team of Richard Muller & Floyd Manous finished in 9th place today which was the 1st place out of the money and would have taken home the Double ZZ Lures for their day on the water if they had been present at weigh in.
