(May. 03, 2009 - Lake Livingston Onalaska, TX)... Anglers Quest 2009 Livingston Saturday Series #5 out of Kickapoo Bait & Tackle in Onalaska, TX began this event with 88 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $5935.00 purse.
The event began at safe light, which was 6:05 am. Weigh in was conducted at 3:15 pm. This Livingston Saturday Series after all 9 events will provide the Team Anglers of the year with free entries to all 2010 Livingston Saturday Series events. The Top 25 teams in pounds will qualify for the 2-day Championship in September on Lake Livingston.
Anglers Quest will take a special Top 5 group of teams from each A/Q series to the "Tournament of Champions" to be held on November 14-15 on Lake Bob Sandlin and will have a great payout as normal. All Anglers Quest Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to fish for, for a very small entry fee of $155.00 per team. Lake Livingston water was a little dirty from all the recent rains and a little above normal pool level with water temps running 68-72 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 70 degrees with a warm up to 86 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was fairly good on Livingston today as there were 18 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 118 bass at 328.14 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.78 lb.
The newly formed team of Albert White from Houston, Tx & Larry Cotten from Huffman, Tx ran Albert’s Champion/Mercury bass rig to areas north of the 190 bridge to catch their keeper bass flipping jigs/craw worms in 2-6 ft water around any sort of visible cover. Albert & Larry culled down to 5 bass at 20.09 lbs to finish in 1st place and collect $1860.00 for their day on the water.
The father & son team of Keith & Chandler Phillips from Huntsville, Tx ran their Skeeter/Yamaha bass rig to nearby Kickapoo creek areas to finish in 2nd with his best 5 bass that tipped the scales at 17.19 lbs. They reported catching their bass with spinner baits around the seini bean bushes. Keith & Chandler’s day on the water payed back $1000.00 for their efforts.
The team of Jimmy Emmons Jr from Humble, Tx & Jeff Stanley from Houston, Tx ran Jimmy’s Champion/Yamaha bass rig to the south end of the lake to throw spinner baits & small cranks around visible cover in 2-12 ft water to bring in 5 bass at 17.04 lbs to garner 3rd place and collect $815.00 for their day on the lake.
The NAPA Parts team of Jerrid Theisen from Huntsville, Tx & Dave Roberts from Montgomery, Tx run Jerrid’s Hydrasport/Rude bass rig to the north end of the lake to flip tx rigged lizards into visible cover in 2-6 ft water to bring in 5 bass at 16.88 lbs to garner 3rd place and collect $600.00 for their day on the lake.
The team of Jason Bennett from Oakhurst, Tx & Jeff Currie from Point Blank, Tx run Jason’s Stealth/Yamaha bass rig to various creek areas north of the 190 bridge to catch their bass using their rods tipped with Tx rigged worms & craw worms. They finished in 5th place with a limit of bass that tipped the scales at 16.25 lbs to collect $410.00 for their efforts.
There were 8 checks today and we had some sponsor products to give to places out of the money today. The team of David Curtis & Shane Gibson finished in 9th place today which was the 1st place out of the money and took home the pair of T/A Lure Retrievers. 2nd place out of the money was the team of Robert McCue & David Wozencraft, they received 2 of the Team Marine Pro Fizzing Tools. Randy Valderez & Joey Rowe finished in the 3rd place out of the money and took home the Double ZZ Lures for their day on the water. Anglers Quest will be back at Kickapoo Bait & Tackle on Lake Livingston on Saturday May 23rd for the 6th of 9 Lake Livingston Saturday Series events. Anglers Quest will be on Lake Conroe at El Dorado Jack’s on May 9th for the 5th of 9 Conroe Saturday Series events. On May 16th Anglers Quest will be at Mill Creek Park on Sam Rayburn for the 5th of 9 Sam Rayburn Saturday Series events. The 5th Super Team event is coming up on Sam Rayburn on Sunday May 31st.
