Anglers Quest 2008 Super Team Series #6 blasted off after the playing of the national anthem at 5:55 am on Sam Rayburn with 56 teamed anglers showing up to go for the all cash payout at the ramp of $5675.00. This Series will provide a NO ENTRY FEE guaranteed $5000 to the winner Championship event in September for the top 25 qualified teams. The top 5 and the Championship winning team from this Series will advance to the "Tournament of Champions" which will be held on Choke Canyon Reservoir on November 7-8-9, 2008 and will have a maximum of 38 teams from all Anglers Quest series go to a very exciting GUARANTEED $15,000.00 to the winner event. All Anglers Quest Championships include Calcutta auctions which builds the Championship purse to some very nice $$ to compete for. It was a cloudy day to start with the air temp at take-off being 69 degrees with a warming to 93 degrees at weigh in time. The water was at approximately 1 3/4 ft below normal pool level with water temps running 87-89 degrees in the main lake. The fishing was pretty fair on Big Sam today as 18 limits were brought to the scales for a total of 111 bass at 314.94 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.83 lb. The TIREMAX Team of Ricky & Charlotte Guy from Humble, Tx ran their Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to mid lake areas with 12’-14’ grass to flip jig&craws to catch their sack of bass. Ricky & Charlotte used their sponsors American Rodsmiths rods & Shimano reels to bring in the winning sack at 19.52 lbs. One of their bass was the Big Bass of the event also at 7.93 lbs. Their success today allowed them to finish in 1st place and collect the A/Q "Goal Posts" and $2715.00. Jonathan Garrie from Baytown & Kendall Wleczyk from Nacogdoches, Tx ran Jonathan’s Triton/Yamaha bass rig to undisclosed areas around the lake to catch their limit of 5 bass and ended up with 19.46 lbs to finish in 2nd place and collect $1210.00 payday for their day on the water. Bill Rogers from Jasper & John Walker from Brookeland, Tx ran Bill’s Nitro/Mercury to areas on Big Sam not announced to bring in their limit of 5 bass that tipped the scales at 17.17 lbs to garner 3rd place and collect $640 for their day on the water. Bobby LeBert from Brookeland & Albert Collins from Nacogdoches, Tx ran Albert’s Skeeter/Yamaha bass rig to 147 bridge areas to work their magic to catch their limit of 5 bass flippin jigs & craw worms around grass and buck brush to end up with 16.79 lbs to finish in 4th place and collect $420.00 for their day on the water. Last place in the money today was the 5th place father & son team of Johnny George from Brookeland & J D George from Houston, Tx rAn their Champion/Yamaha to unknown areas to end up with 5 bass that tipped the scales at 16.65 lbs to collect $250.00 for their day on the water. The next Super Team event on Big Sam will be the last one in this 2008 series and will be on July 27th. Anglers Quest will be back on Big Sam on July 5th for #7 of the 9 Sam Rayburn Saturday Series events. Enter these events online or anytime at Needmore Tackle or Mill Creek Grocery.
